Debra R. Thornton, 66, of Barnhill, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 in her home, following a lengthy period of declining health.
Born in Jackson, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Florence (McNutt) Martin and was a homemaker. She loved watching her daughter play softball, being on Facebook and watching “Days of Our Lives”.
On June 8, 1973, Debra married Charles J. Thornton and together they shared over 47 years of marriage. In addition to Charles, Debra is survived by her children, Joshua Levi Thornton and his fiancé Shauna Townsend of Dover and Desirae Dawn Thornton of Uhrichsville; three grandchildren, Samantha Jo (Jake) Miller of Utah, Joshua J. Thornton of Barnhill and Frostin Ray Roup of Uhrichsville; a great grandson, Fenix Reese Miller of Utah, two sisters, Barbara (Donnie) Alsept of Jewett and Elizabeth Wayde of New Philadelphia; a brother, Patrick (Bernice) Martin of New Philadelphia and her best friend, Peggy Pringle of Barnhill.
In addition to her parents, a son, Charles J. Thornton, Jr. and three grandchildren also precede her in death.
In keeping with Debra’s wishes, she is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and no public visitation or services are to be scheduled.
