Dean F. Levengood, 77, a longtime farmer of the Mineral City area, went to be with the Lord August 30, 2007, following a brief illness at the Cleveland Clinic.Dean was born on Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929, at Beach City to the late John and Martha (Aulenbaugh) Levengood. He attended a one-room school house during his formal education.Dean loved farming, beginning as a child on the family farm and continuing to do so throughout his life. He will be remembered first and foremost as a wonderful role model to his children and their families. A hard working man, an honorable man, Dean was respected by his family, friends and neighbors. Dean was a “Jack of all trades” who could fix and build most anything he attempted. Dean’s other jobs included co-owner of the former Drisco Services, Inc., Tusky Valley school bus driver, distributor for Sohio and a former Warren Township trustee.Dean was a member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church in Zoarville, currently serving on church council. He was a former member of the Dover Elks and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.Dean is survived by his children, Rick (Lorna) Levengood of New Philadelphia, Paula Moore of New Philadelphia, Valerie (Joel) Gordon of Mineral City, Scott (Sally) Levengood of Mineral City and Wendy (Andrew) Lab of Dover; grandchildren Wilma and Nathan Levengood, Natasha Moore, Craig and Jason Burkhart, Kari Loveless, Cade Adams, Julien, Jaren and Jayden Levengood, Cameron Peterman, Cole and Andria Lab; great grandchildren Jeordan, Jeffrey and Randy Burkhart; a brother Donald (Marge) Levengood of New Philadelphia; a sister Marna Jones of Mineral City; and his long time companion Louise Levengood Of Mineral City.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Wilma Swonger; a daughter, Cathy Adams; and infant son, Jeffrey A. Levengood; step-mother, Viva (Owens); and brothers, John, Galen and Gary.Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2007, from 2:00 Â? 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 North Wooster Ave., Dover, and one hour prior to the funeral that will be conducted Wednesday, at 1:00 P.M. in the Geib Funeral Center with Elder Bruce Levengood officiating. Burial will follow in the Zoar Cemetery. A memorial celebration will follow the committal in Faith Baptist Church at Zoar.
