Dean “Barney” Barnhart, 62, of Dover, died Wednesday evening, October 13, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer with family by his side.Dean, who recently retired from Uhrden Incorporated in Sugarcreek after 15 years of employment, was born on July 27, 1942 in Sugarcreek to the late Donald E. Barnhart and Cathrine (Phillips) Barnhart.He attended Garaway Schools. Dean was an avid CB operator whose handle was “Redman”. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and also loved to fish.Dean is survived by one son; Dean Adam (Alison) Barnhart of Dennison, one daughter; Kathy (Chris) Swain of Uhrichsville, his companion of 20 years; Shirley Ross of Dover, grandchildren; Christopher Swain, Krista Swain and Abby Rae Barnhart, Brothers; Richard (Charlotte) Barnhart of Sugarcreek and Larry Barnhart of New Philadelphia and one sister; Faye Barnhart of Sugarcreek.Friends may call at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia on Sunday, October 17, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00PM. A funeral service celebrating Dean’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, October 18, 2004 at 1:30PM with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Sugarcreek. Immediately following the burial, a reception will be held in the Geib Family Center.The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County and/or the American Cancer Society.
