Dawn Kandel, age 40, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully Thursday afternoon February 16, 2006 in her home with her family at her side.A daughter of Wilbur (Bill) and Janet Souers of Zoarville, Dawn was born June 2, 1965 at Akron, O. She married David Ray Kandel at New Philadelphia on August 6, 1999. After completing her education at New Philadelphia High School and Buckeye Career Center in 1983, she began her professional career as an optical technician, most recently working for Tuscarawas Eye Center.Dawn was a vibrant and giving person, always concerned about the well-being of others. She had a passion for animals and nature. Whether Dawn was tending to her gardens or fishing at the lake, she had a smile on her face. She also gave of her time to the American Red Cross and to animal shelters. She was a member of Berlin Christian Fellowship.In addition to her husband and parents, Dawn is survived by one step-daughter, Alyssia; sisters, Renee (David) Serrano of Fort Collins, Colorado and Kelly (Troy) Bichsel of Dover; two brothers, Kevin (Lori) Souers of North Ridgeville, Ohio and Chad (Stephanie) Souers of Mineral City; nieces and nephews, Emily, Ethan, Elliot, Eliza, Matthew, Zachary, Amanda, Chelsea, Sierra, Joshua, Elliana, Madeline, and Maci; father and mother-in-law, Durlan and Darlene Kandel of Stone Creek; sister-in-law, Brenda (Dave) Egler of New Philadelphia; and her dog, Buddy.Visitation will be Monday, February 20, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave.. Services will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Geib Funeral Center in Dover with the Pastor David A. Stutzman officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park at Dover.Memorial contributions honoring Dawn’s life may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St., Dover, OH 44622.
