David E. See, 55, and Sandra M. “Sandy” See, 56, both of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, November 17, 2002 from injuries they sustained in an aircraft accident.Born in Akron, David was the son of Albert A. and Betty J. Gray See of Moore Haven, Florida. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University where he received both his bachelors and masters degrees. David was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Viet Nam War and had retired in the year 2000 after ten years as the associate director of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties. He was a longtime member and served as secretary for the New Philadelphia Lions Club; was a member of the Ohio State Alumni Association and it’s scholarship committee; served on the New Philadelphia Airport Commission; was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association; was a past board member and still very active with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps; was a member of the Jednota Club in Akron and served as the official chairman for the annual family fishing derby. Dave was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and along with his wife, held season tickets for all the home games and had attended most of the away games every year.Sandy was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the daughter of Margaret M. Sansburn Strasser of Grosse Ile, Michigan and the late William J. Strasser. She was a graduate of Wittenberg University and was employed by the Tuscarawas County Job and Family Services as the Family Centered Neighborhood Based Coordinator, which was an initiative that she had started in the year 2000. Sandy was also active with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps; was a member of the Dover Moose and loved gardening and doing genealogy. Surviving are their children, Andrea M. See who resides in Seattle, Washington and Michael D. See of the residence; David’s sister, Deborah A. Boyd of Richmond. Virginia and Sandy’s two sisters, Lora (Charles) Frankel of Huntington Woods, Michigan and Airlie Strasser of Livonia, Michigan. David’s brother, Donald W. See, preceded them in death.A memorial service for Dave and Sandy will be held Friday, November 22, 2002 at 10 AM at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Philadelphia with Pastor Mike Walters officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2002 from 5 to 8 PM at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia.
