David R. Renicker, 87, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Union Hospital at Dover following a recent period of declining health.
A son of the late Earl and Dorothy (Shaw) Renicker, David was born March 20, 1930 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.
David graduated from Midvale High School in 1949. He then entered the United States Air Force honorably serving his country from 1949 to 1952.
On July 3, 1954, he married the love of his life, the former Carolyn Meyer and together the couple raised four children, Carol, Richard, Terry and Sharon.
David was retired from General Electric at Dover where he worked for over 34 years. He attended the New Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene and he enjoyed gardening and completing puzzles. Most of all, David cherished the time spent with his great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Renicker; his children, Carol (Tom) Pfalzgraf of Massillon, Richard (Laura) Renicker of Williston, North Dakota and Sharon (Jamie) Walters of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Pam Renicker of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry; a sister, Ruth Wall; and two brothers, Alden “Jack” Renicker and Harry Renicker.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin D’Ettorre officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held at the New Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene.
