David Raymond “Hindu” Hunter, 54, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A son of the late Ervin “Canary” Hunter and the late Anna (Strimbu) Hunter, Hindu was born October 23, 1959 in Union Hospital at Dover, Ohio.
Hindu graduated from New Philadelphia High School and was an employee of Meteor Sealing Systems at Dover. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union as well as a member of the former New Philadelphia Army-Navy Club.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed history and Trivia. Hindu also enjoyed listening to Blues music and he was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Winkler) Hunter whom he married on August 18, 1990; two sisters, Mary (Chris) Jacobs of New Cumberland and Linda Hunter of New Philadelphia; two brothers, James (Mary) Hunter of Strasburg and Chuck (Nancy) Hunter of Port Washington; his nieces and nephews, Abby Martinez of Bowling Green, Ohio, Adam Jacobs of New Cumberland, Libby McAbier of Scranton, Iowa, Sara Baker of Uhrichsville, Sierra and Stone Winkler both of Magnolia and Tiffany Gerber of Strasburg; his mother-in-law, Shirley Winkler of Magnolia and numerous great nieces and great nephews and many friends.
In keeping with Hindu’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place in East Avenue Cemetery at a later date.
It was Hindu’s wish that he continued to help others after his passing and he did so by giving the gift of life through Lifebanc Organ and Tissue Donation.
