David Paul Kellar, age 65 of Tuscarawas died peacefully following a lengthy illness on Monday, September 16, 2013 while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia.
A son of the late Argel and Blanche (Swaney) Kellar, David was born at Twin City Hospital at Dennison on September 7, 1948.
He attended Uhrichsville High School and on August 24, 1968 he married the former Rita Roth.
For 18 years, David worked for the former Massillon Spring and Rivet and prior to retirement was employed for 22 years by Tri-State Tubular at New Philadelphia.
A longtime member of Sharon Moravian Church, David served alongside his wife as a Deiner for six years. David spent his Friday evenings with family and friends as they gathered together to play card games. Additionally, he spent a great deal of time with his grandchildren and enjoyed each unique opportunity with them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shelley (Chad) Young of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, and Nicole Young; three siblings, Tom (Janet) Kellar, Linda (Chris) Bloom all of New Philadelphia and Bill (Doris) Kellar of Uhrichsville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Darrell Johnson will lead a celebration of David’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. Following services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Sharon Moravian Church Social Hall.
