David James Paisley, age 70, of Strasburg died peacefully in his residence on Monday, May 14, 2018 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Twin City Hospital in Dennison on August 13, 1947, David was a son of the late Wallace and Agnes A. (Mathias) Paisley.
David was a 1966 graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick School. For 31 years David was employed by the Ohio Department of Transportation District 11, where he worked as a Safety Inspector and retired in 2000.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, sporting activities and playing baseball. For many years, he played Class A ball for Wainwright as a center fielder and pitcher and even coached little league and pony league teams. To recognize his efforts and passion for the game, David was honored as a Cy Young Hall of Fame inductee. David also loved attending the sporting and school activities of his grandchildren, enjoying family picnics at Salt Fork Lake and vacationing at Myrtle Beach.
He will be missed by his wife of nearly 52 years, the former Sue Meese; their children, David Paisley of Montana, Jenny (Brett) Shaw of Wainwright, Cindy (Butch) Myers of Strasburg; and a son-in-law, Joseph Allen of Columbus; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and two expected great-grandchildren.
Completing the family is a sister, Delores Williams; a brother, Jeff (Sally) Paisley all of New Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Allen; and two brothers, Donald and Richard Paisley.
In keeping with David’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care will be conducted through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
