David Jeffrey “Jeff” Hammel, 56, of New Philadelphia, died Monday morning, March 3, 2008 at his residence.A son of Homer and Deane Milburn Hammel, of Gilmore, Ohio, Jeff was born July 1, 1951, in Dennison, Ohio.Jeff was a 1969 graduate of Indian Valley South High School, and was a United States Naval veteran.He was employed as a foreman for the former Alsco Aluminum, of Gnadenhutten until its closing. He then worked for the Village of Dennison, in the street department and as a delivery man with Baker Florist.Jeff was a member of the American Italian Club of Dennison, enjoyed playing Jass, was a good woodworker and an avid Cleveland Indian and Ohio State Buckeye fan.In addition to his parents, He is survived by his wife, Charlena J. Dominick Hammel, whom he married July 24, 1971; a daughter, Heather Anne (Brent) Reed, of Marion, O; a son, Troy Michael (Shawn) Hammel, of Pickerington, O.; grandchildren, T.J., Kailey, Kyle and a granddaughter due in May.; sisters, Barb (Roger) Adams, of Millersburg and Susan (Philip) Robson, of New Philadelphia and a brother, Greg (Patti) Hammel, of Gilmore.Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2008, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory of New Philadelphia. A private graveside service will be held in West Union Cemetery at Gilmore. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
