David Earl Lute, age 76 of Tippecanoe, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in Aultman Hospital following a period of declining health.
A son of late William Garner and Mariam (Lute) Garner, David was born in Dover, OH, on March 24, 1945.
David honorably served his county during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart when his barracks was shelled. He was always very proud of his service and was instrumental in bringing the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Tuscarawas County several years ago. Throughout his life David worked hard at Marlite and then Ekco Housewares. He was an avid collector of model trains. He always was planning new ways to display his trains. He also worked to helped the Dennison Depot with their displays. David was a life-long member of Goshen Nazarene Church, serving as a trustee for many years.
On September 30, 1966 he married, Deanna (Hammer) Lute who survives. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Christopher (Elizabeth) Lute of Hilliard, OH, Heather Cua and companion Scott Hopkins of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Paige Lute, Sydney Lute, Megan Cua, Cameron Lute, and Camden Cua; his siblings, Joyce (Jake) Zeigler, William (Nancy) Garner, Kathy (Gene) Kouba, Karen (Rod) Dietrich, Paul Garner, Marlene Garner, Cheryl Garner, and Alice Parks; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother Eva Lute who raised him.
A Memorial Service will be led by Pastor Lee Randolph on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 1:00 PM in Goshen Church of Nazarene at 2501 David Rd SE, New Philadelphia. Inurnment will take place on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 1:15 PM in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.
