David Brian Hastings, 50, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Saturday, December 22, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A son of Larry (Doris) Hastings and Sarah (George Sr.) Lipply, David was born April 14, 1962 at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
He attended Hudson Schools and eventually graduated from Kent Roosevelt High School in 1980.
David, who was known as Duke to his family, will be remembered for his generous personality, his love for the outdoors, his excellent skills as a chef and caterer but most of all for his love of his children and family. He enjoyed professional wrestling very much throughout his life. He accomplished what some never get to when he got his dream job as a local wrestler, known in the ring as “The Golden Boy”.
In addition to his parents and step-parents, he is survived by his children, Danielle (Corey) Hastings, Zachary (Stacy) Hastings and Aldyn Jayce; his brothers and sisters, Teresa (Tim) Akin, John (Cecelia) Lipply, Sarah (Scott) Fraser, Janice Case, Kathy (Bill) Fowler, George (Liz) Lipply Jr., Steven Lipply, Jennifer (Tricia) Lipply, Sandy Moore and Brenda Wages; and uncle, Darrell (Helen) Hastings; two aunts, Kathi Lamptman and Lois Helwig and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith Zutavern and Arthur and Marie Helvie and brother-in-law, Dean Case and.
In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December, 29, 2012 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Max Canfield will lead a memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday at 3:00 PM. Following the service, all are invited to join David’s family for a gathering and fellowship in the Canal House at Tuscarawas.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made for the benefit of his two year old son to any Huntington National Bank c/o Aldyn Jayce Hughes.
