David Gene Bair

David Gene Bair Sr., of New Philadelphia Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at the age of 84.  Born on December 14, 1938 in New Philadelphia, Ohio, to the late Ralph and Margaret (Treacle) Bair, Dave was the youngest of 3 children.  

He was married in 1959, was an Army Veteran, and was the third generation owner of Bair’s Custom Meats, working in meat cutting and butchering until the mid-eighties.   Dave also enjoyed playing his trombone in various local bands.

He is survived by his brother, James Bair; two sons, David (Michele) Bair and Jason Bair; and five grandchildren: Jordan Greer, Alexandria (Luke) Gearhart, Lauren Bair, Isabella Bair and Ariana Bair.  

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sheila Anne; a sister, Caroline Stein, and a daughter, Julie Anne Greer.  

In keeping with Dave's wishes, there will be no public services, the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care.

The family requests contributions in Dave's memory be made to any hospice charity of the donor's choice.
