David Alvin Daley, age 83, of New Philadelphia went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2013 while in the care of Community Hospice House.
A son of the late Joseph and Delores (Fox) Daley, Dave was born at Roswell on February 15, 1930.
He attended grade school at Roswell and graduated from the former Midvale High School in 1948. After graduation he briefly worked for Midvale Mine before entering the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Military Police which served state-side during the Korean War.
Upon his discharge, he briefly worked for the Timken Company and the former Goshen Dairy Company before entering into work with area construction firms. It was there he learned to be a concrete finisher and ultimately began working for himself as the owner/operator of Daley Concrete and remained active until his retirement at the age of 72.
In his free time, Dave enjoyed golfing and fishing and during his younger years, enjoyed hunting with his brothers.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, the former Jane Golder, whom he married on May 30, 1952; four children, David A. (Peggy) Daley, Ted (Kris) Daley, Robert (Dianne) Daley all of New Philadelphia and Sue (James) Day of Dennison; a sister, Janis (John) DeMattio of New Philadelphia and a brother, Larry (Sue) Daley of Winfield.
Completing the family are six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and four-step great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in Death by a brother, Fred Daley.
The family will hold private services at a later date with cremation care being handled through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
