David Alan White, age 53, of New Philadelphia died suddenly late Wednesday evening, April 12, 2006. Born at Dover, August 18, 1952, David was a son of the late Melvin Revere White and Rosella Magdalene Edie White. Better known as Dave to his friends, he graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1972, and enlisted in the United States Army. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, David returned to the Tuscarawas Valley where he met and fell in love with the former Cindy Ebersbach. The couple wed on November 11, 1977, and looked forward to celebrating their 29th anniversary together later this year. An electrician for the Tuscarawas County Metropolitan Sewer District by day, and a carpenter by night, David was a very talented woodworker, and handyman who took a great deal of pride in his work. His hardworking style will be missed by his family, all of whom have beautiful furniture and memento’s from their dad. David was a member of Local 2308 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.In addition to his wife, David will be sadly missed by his family, which includes a daughter, Mandy (Richard) Gibbs of Sugarcreek; a son, Matt White of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren Zoe, Kayla, and Richard Gibbs III and Bailey Carl; and a brother Jim (Judy) Stonecipher of Valpariso, Indiana. One brother, Robert Stonecipher, in addition to his parents, precede Mr. White in death. Friends are invited to call Monday, from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey will lead funeral services for Mr. White Tuesday at 2 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park where military graveside services will be rendered by members of the VFW Post 1445 of New Philadelphia. Memorial contributions to the Tuscarawas County Dog Pound in care of Colonial Manor, 441 University Drive, New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or to the Cats-N-Us shelter 829 Union Avenue, Dover OH 44622, are suggested by the family.
