David Alan Dummermuth, age 55, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Union Hospital at Dover following a nearly four year battle with cancer.
A son of Homer and Elsie (Geib) Dummermuth of New Philadelphia, David was born in Union Hospital on December 12, 1960.
He was a 1979 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and entered into the United States Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he obtained an Associate Degree of Computer Science from Kent State University at Tuscarawas.
For a period of time David was employed by Diebold and later served as an independent contractor for Howden-Buffalo before joining the management team of Walmart.
David was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers; loved reading books on History, playing Poker and Jass and in his younger years enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, David is survived by his siblings, Debbie (Bill) Immel of New Philadelphia and James (Cynthia) Dummermuth of Columbus; a nephew, Jeremy (fiancée, Mandy Gibbs) of Dover; a niece, Brooke (Jeremy) Murphy of New Philadelphia; two nephews, Christian and Hunter Dummermuth; a niece Rajani Dummermuth all of Columbus; a great-nephew and three great-nieces, Bella and Brady Immel, and Peyton and Paige Murphy as well as many close friends.
The family will greet guests during a memorial visitation on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 3-5 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Private inurnment will take place in Jerusalem Church Cemetery at a later date.
David was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to stay at Hope Lodge while receiving treatments; in gratitude, the family requests contributions in his name be directed to The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106.
