Darlene Mahaffey

Darlene Kay Mahaffey, 55, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, September 7, 2015 in Beacon Pointe Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.

A daughter of the late Raymond and Thelma (Hodkinson) Mahaffey, Darlene was born April 15, 1960 in Dennison, Ohio.

Darlene enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing. She also enjoyed listening to music. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Mahaffey of Dennison and John (Maria) Mahaffey of Oceanside, California; her grandchildren, Samantha, Cody, Jessica, Alex, Andrew and Matthew Mahaffey; her siblings, Raymond (Robin) Mahaffey of New Philadelphia, Betty (Tim) Meek of Dover, Alberta Thorton of Uhrichsville, Linda (Raymond) Garabrandt of Newcomerstown, Randy (Hester) Mahaffey of New Philadelphia, Cathy Howell of New Philadelphia and Danni Smith of Uhrichsville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Elaine, Robert and John Mahaffey.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Darlene’s life will follow in the funeral home at 7 p.m. with Pastor Robert Scheall officiating. In keeping with Darlene’s wishes cremation will follow the services.
