Dara Lee Cole, 82, of New Philadelphia, a selfless and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 16, 2012.
Born in Gassaway, West Virginia on February 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lee H. and A. Bessie (Seal) Whisman.
Dara Lee married her lifelong companion and friend, Donald C. Cole, on November 21, 1956. Together, they were members of the Canton Baptist Temple. Dara Lee lived out her faith by teaching 4 and 5 year old children about the love of Christ in Sunday School for more than 40 years.
Together, Don and Dara Lee provided nursing home ministry care at Manor Care in North Canton for 5 years.
Dara Lee devoted her life to family, loving and supporting her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed having her children and their friends in her home where she cooked and baked for them. She also supported them throughout their various activities and interests.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Don; her children, Lee (Sherri) Cole of Alliance, Randy (Darlene) Cole of Willoughby Hills, Rick (Sherry) Cole of New Philadelphia and Carla (Patrick) Cloonan of Kirtland, O.; her grandchildren, Caleb and Taylor Cole, Jeremy (Kim) Cole, Amanda (Chris) Greene, Austin, Parker and Hudson Cole, Noah, Jordan, Emma, Michaela, and Madison Cloonan; and her nephew, George (Debbie) Stump.
Dara Lee was able to live in the comfort of her own home for a number of years because of the loving and devoted care of her husband and caregivers, Lisa Pawley, Terri Shanower, and Ruth Cadle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nellie “Rita” Stump; and her brothers, Hugh “Bill” and Dallas “Bud” Whisman.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, December 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Dara Lee’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home immediately following the service where a meal will be shared.
Burial will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Peninsula, O.
