Daniel W. Howenstine, 57, of Dover, died Thursday July 28, 2005 at his home after suffering a long illness.A son of the late Frank I. and Lillian H. Bender Howenstine, Daniel was born March 22, 1948 in Dover, Ohio.A 1966 graduate of Sandy Valley High School Daniel was an avid automotive enthusiast with an entrepreneurial sprit. In 1975 his passions led he and his wife Jane to found Web Distributors of Dover. They sold their company to Summers Rubber of Cleveland and in 1985 began Howenstine Auto Salvage of New Philadelphia. His love for cars led him to a life long hobby of racing. Dan’s first love was his family, but on a beautiful sunny day you could find him spending time with his second love, the race track. He was always ready to go, and to go fast. When he wasn’t at the race track he was enjoying building the cars from the ground up. When Dan’s garage door was up you can bet there were gear heads there with him.Daniel is survived by his wife Jane M. Rhodes Howenstine whom he married October 26, 1968; two daughters, Lea A. Howenstine and Dana M. (J.D.) Miles of Dover; and two grand children Zachery A. Miles and Ty D. Miles of Dover.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Richard Howenstine.Visitation will be Sunday July 31, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. Dover, Ohio. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral center, with Charles McBride officiating. Burial will be at Dover Burial Park.A reception will be held at the Geib Center in Dover following the committal service.Memorial contributions honoring Daniel’s life may be made to The American Heart Association Ohio Valley Affiliate P.O.
