Daniel G. Stafford, 60 of North Canton, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in University Hospitals at Cleveland. It was unexpected even though he had been ill with pancreatic cancer since June 2018.
Born in Lorain, he was the son of the late Daniel N. Stafford and is survived by his mother, Elizabeth A. (Pearch) Stafford of North Canton. Dan was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. In his youth, he was active in Boy Scouts and had earned scouting’s highest honor when he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. His childhood was spent in Vermilion, but his career took him to many other cities.
Dan graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was very talented in design. He was awarded six patents during his career and he was presently working his “dream job” with MATCO tools in Stow. It was perfect! He had hoped to continue working there until he retired.
In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by his brothers, David N. Stafford of Bainbridge Township and Donald E. (Brenda) Stafford of West Chester; a niece, Emily A. Stafford of Westlake; six nephews, Nicholas G. Stafford and Nathan D. Stafford of Bainbridge Township, Matthew E.P. Stafford of Cleveland Heights, Douglas S.C. (Shelby) Stafford of Montgomery, Clayton D.J. Stafford and Coleman D.K. Stafford of West Chester; an aunt and uncle, Karen and Lance Pearch of Cumming, Georgia, their extended family and many other relatives that are also grieving with us.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Dan’s life will begin at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor John Corsi officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia and a reception will be held in the Geib Family Center following the burial.
