Daniel Dunfee, 63, of Bucyrus and formerly of Dennison, passed away on January 3, 2025, at Ohio State Medical Center.
Born on October 29, 1961, in Dover, he was the son of the late Samuel and Edna F. (Kendle) Dunfee.
Dan was a dedicated public servant who began his career after graduating from Dover High School. He continued his education at Stark State for fire school and later attended Aultman Hospital to become a medic. Over the years, he served the Village of Dennison as a firefighter, medic, and hazmat technician. He retired as the Assistant Chief of the station.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dan was an accomplished woodworker, crafting meaningful items for family and friends. He was also passionate about fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Mary L. (Dickinson) Dunfee, of New Washington; his sons, Jason (Rachel) Dunfee of Bucyrus, Steve (Shannon) Dunfee of Shreve, and Matt (Haley) Dunfee of New Washington; grandchildren, Keira, Lyncoln, Dawson, Spencer, Marleigh, Lillyan, and Mason; his sister, Sue Minnis; sisters-in-law, Karen Dunfee and Linda Byers; and many nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Walter and Don Dunfee; and his brother-in-law, Randy Minnis.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave., Dover. The firefighter service and Last Call will begin promptly at 4 p.m., followed by a funeral service led by Assistant Chief Jim Shamel.
Memorial contributions in Dan's honor may be made to the Village of Dennison Fire Department, 302 Grant St., Dennison, OH 44621.
