Dale Jacob Wenger

Dale Jacob Wenger, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Union Hospital at Dover following a short illness.A son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Koler) Wenger, Dale was born on September 25, 1928 in his family home where he lived until his passing.He graduated from New Philadelphia High School then served two years in the United States Army.On October 10, 1948, Dale married the love of his life, the former Norma Jean Watson. Together, the couple raised a daughter, Lisa.Dale had a passion for working and retired as a security guard from Reeves Steel at Dover. When not working at Reeves, he could be found putting in long hours on his farm. He enjoyed sitting on his lawn mower but most of all he enjoyed taking care of his family, including his dog, Abigail.He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Wenger of the home; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tom Garbrandt of New Philadelphia; two grandchildren, Christopher and Sarah Garbrandt of New Philadelphia and two brothers Glenn Wenger and James (Rose) Wenger.Dale was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Tommy Wenger and nine siblings, Eugene, Ellen, Frank, Sylvia, Robert, Ada, Johnny, Theodore and Gertrude.In keeping with Dale’s wishes, visitation and services will be private and interment will take place in Dover Burial Park.Contributions may be made in Dale’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 or to Jerusalem Church, 1417 Stonecreek Road SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
