Dale Edward Schaar, 93, of Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Park Village Assisted Living in Dover following a brief illness.Born April 19, 1909 in Goshen Township, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Anne James Schaar. Dale spent his life working as a Dairy Farmer in Sharon Valley, and he was as a retired school bus driver for Tuscarawas-Warwick schools for over ten years. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts. He was a member of South Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, the Nineveh and Pomona Granges for over 50 years, a former member of the Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas, and a former Warwick Township Trustee.Together with his wife of 69 years, Beulah E. (Zumbrunnen) Schaar, of Park Village Assisted Living, whom he married on September 20, 1933, they raised two daughters, Shirley (Von) Gordon of Dover and Treva (Allen) Gaskill of Newcomerstown. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, two half-brothers, one half-sister, and a grandson.Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003, from 2-4 & 7-9, at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia with Grange services held at 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 2 PM Sharon Moravian Church in Tuscarawas with Rev. Jonathan McCleery and Rev. Michael Foran officiating. Burial will follow at Sharon Moravian Church Cemetery. A meal will follow at the Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Broadway United Methodist Church, 120 Church Avenue S.E., New Philadelphia, OH 44663, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
