Corinne Ann Horner, age 85, of Tippecanoe, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, while under the care of Community Hospice in The Truman House at New Philadelphia.
Born March 21, 1938, at Massillon, Ohio, Corinne was a daughter of the late Russell Earl and Alta O. (Getz) Glick.
Although Corinne treasured the simple things in life and valued what she called her “quiet, country” existence, she will be remembered for living a life that inspired many people. Her career involved serving as an administrative secretary at Twin City Hospital and two law firms; she also enjoyed her time as a librarian in the Puskarich Public Library system. However, most people will remember Corinne for generously sharing her skills with others. Corinne, who never wanted to be in the spotlight herself, truly developed her inspirational personality by encouraging other people. A talented artist, Corinne nurtured creativity in both children and adults by volunteering to teach painting classes at the Uhrichsville public library and arts lessons at many antique tractor shows. Corinne also gathered together her four granddaughters every year to make Christmas crafts; these are some of the girls’ favorite memories together. Additionally, she taught her daughter and granddaughters the seamstress skills that she learned from her own grandmother—the girls fondly recall piecing together quilts and dresses with Grandma Corinne. Similarly, she showed her son, daughter, and granddaughters the survival skills of gardening and canning. It was not unusual for a family member to receive a gift of seeds that Corinne had gathered herself from her flower garden, and many family members will continue to always treasure their recipe cards, in Corinne’s own handwriting. In addition to these hobbies, Corinne also managed Apple Patch Farms with her husband, where they enjoyed taking their exotic animals to shows.
She is survived by her husband James Eugene Horner, whom she married on January 19, 1957; daughter, Kimberly (Jeffrey) Ferrell of Freeport; son, Timothy (Jayne) Horner of Tippecanoe; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Bobby) Brooks, Sally (Matt Taylor) Johnson, Courtney (Billy) Hyde, and Emily (Danny) Hipp; great-grandchildren, Madelynn Johnson, Averee Hyde, Brynlee Hyde, and Tyler Hipp; sister, Carol (Glick) Wentling, and exchange student from Peru, Marilu Escudero, who was like a daughter to Corinne.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sally (Glick) Taylor.
Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. In keeping with Corinne’s wishes, there are no services planned.
