Cora Louise Bonvechio Kohler, age 86, of Park Village Assisted Living Center at Dover, and a lifelong resident of Wainwright, died peacefully early Sunday morning, April 17, 2005 in Union Hospital, following a brief illness. Born September 15, 1918, at home in Wainwright, she was one of five children born to the late Martin and Roseann Fox Bonvechio. Cora attended school at Wainwright primary school before attending Tuscarawas High School. As a young lady, she assisted the Reeves family in the home, now known as the J. E. Reeves Victorian Home & Museum. During World War II, she, like many women of her time, filled vacancies in factory work while those who regularly held the jobs were involved in the war effort. For more than two decades, she was a waitress in the former Bonvechio’s Restaurant at Wainwright until 1964.Cora was baptized in and was a member of the former St. Therese Catholic Church at Wainwright and was a member of the Altar Society there until it closed. She then became a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, where she and her late husband were members of Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She will be remembered by her family for the wonderful care she gave to their home, and family. Cora hosted weekly family gatherings on Wednesday evenings, cooking and baking for all to enjoy. On October 21, 1954, she married Earl E. “Bud” Kohler. The couple spent forty-nine years together until his death January 15, 2004. Bud and Cora were strong supporters of baseball in Wainwright, with the ball diamond across the street from the family home. Her family includes a daughter; Rosemary Grant Schofield of Deerfield Beach, FL, two sons; James (Vicki) Grant Jr. of Massillon, O, and Earl “Bud” (Diane) Kohler Jr. of New Philadelphia, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a sister; Vera (Lou) Tornabene of New Philadelphia, and two former sisters-in-law; Jeanie Mathias of New Philadelphia, and Helen Grant of Uhrichsville.In addition to her parents, and husband, Cora was preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Grant Sr., two sisters; Anna Vesco and Evelyn Smith, and a brother, Martin “Sonny” Bonvechio Jr. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Cora on Tuesday morning, April 19, 2005, at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
