Clyde T. Bean, 78, died suddenly early Saturday morning, April 10, 2004 in his New Philadelphia Home.He was born near McKinleyville, WV to the late Milo C. and Margaret E. Davis Bean on June 16, 1925. Raised at Turkey Flats, Clyde attended school in Uhrichsville.On June 8, 1943, Clyde married Donna J. Herron in Greenup, KY. The couple shared nearly 61 years together.During World War II, Clyde served honorably with the U. S. Marine Corps, with the 1st Marine Division. He participated in campaigns at Okinawa and Palau as well as spending time in China. Due to battle injuries, Clyde received the Purple Heart medal.He was a brick mason by trade, having worked for Gundy Construction and later with his father’s masonry contractor’s business, “M. C. Bean & Son”. Along with his family, Clyde enjoyed annual trips to Lake Nippasing, Canada. He also liked to hunt and to fish and raise hunting dogs.Clyde and Donna raised four children, daughters, Sandra (Charles) Olinger of New Philadelphia and Margaret “Peg” (Jim) Gallagher of Canal Winchester; son, Clyde Herman (Connie) Bean of Piedmont, OH; their son, Gary, died August 16, 1971. Other survivors include sisters, Charmagne (Loren) Berger of Gilmore; Sue (Harry) Barker and Linda Treacle, both of Uhrichsville; grandchildren, John (Laurel) Kissel; Mike (Luann) Todd; Shelly (Richard) Lehman; Seana (Philip) Todd Fortune; and Christian Bean; six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and son, Clyde was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Mae Martin and Mary Alice Lazar.Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 13, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 1:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Rev. Harry “Bud” Milligan will officiate. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery in Gilmore.
