Clyde Richard Singree, 84, of Dover, died Thursday, September 11, 2008 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.A son of the late Wilford and Blanche (Spencer) Singree, Clyde was born April 6, 1924 at McConnellsville, Ohio.Clyde was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and on November 24, 1944, he married the former Helen Jean Clarke.He retired from Gradall after 33 years of service. Following his retirement, Clyde enjoyed having breakfast with the Gradall Breakfast Club.Clyde and Helen Jean enjoyed visiting relatives and friends which include those they met while wintering in Palmetto, Florida. They enjoyed traveling together and were able to visit all 50 states, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover. Clyde enjoyed woodworking and he will be remembered as a generous friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand.He is survived by a son, Wayne and his wife Jeanne of Bolivar; a daughter, Beverly and her husband Jeff Myers of Worthington, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kimberly Myers of New York City, Kyle Myers of West Palm Beach, Florida, Brian and his wife Traci Singree of Bolivar, and Alan Singree of Dover; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Elise, A.J., and Rebecca Singree; a brother, Harry Singree of Portsmouth, Ohio; a sister, Mary Johnson of Waterford, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Marianne Singree of Beverly, Ohio and a special friend, Irene Coventry of New Philadelphia.Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Jean; a brother, George Singree and sister, Edith Sands.The family will receive friends on Monday, September 15, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Clyde’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Hospitality Room in the funeral home.Contributions may be made in Clyde’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
