Clyde H. Heavilin, age 68, of New Philadelphia died Thursday, April 5, 2018 in his residence following a courageous 47-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born at Dover, Ohio on November 15, 1949, Clyde was a son of the late Clyde Heavilin, Sr. and Ethel Mae Kerper Fox.
Clyde was a 1968 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and entered into the United State Navy in 1969. He honorably served his country during Vietnam until his discharge in 1973.
Clyde continued his formal education at Kent State University Tuscarawas and earned an Associate of Science Degree. He was employed by Belden Brick for many years and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ at Uhrichsville.
Though he struggled with his illness, Clyde never once complained. He worked hard and had the ability to fix anything. He enjoyed camping and watching the Andy Griffith Show and John Wayne Movies.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Nita Jo Rummell, whom he married on October 10, 1975; sons, Carl Martin Heavilin of New Philadelphia and Charles (Peg) Renicker of Carrollton; a brother, Charles R. Heavilin of New Philadelphia; sisters, Glenda Fox of Carrollton and Kathrine (James) Day of New Philadelphia; and his mother-in-law, Emily Rummell of New Philadelphia.
The family will greet guests on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 5:00-6:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Mr. John Gibson will lead a memorial service celebrating Clyde’s life at 6:00 PM.
