Clyde E. Wigert

June 16, 1955 — May 25, 2013

Clyde E. Wigert, 57, a lifelong resident of Stone Creek, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 in Harrison Community Hospital at Cadiz following a sudden illness.

A son of the late Wallace and Nova Maxine (Zimmerly) Wigert, Clyde was born in his childhood home at Stone Creek on June 16, 1955.

Clyde graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1973. For 20 years, he was the owner and operator of C & W Oil Field Construction Company and was also a heavy equipment operator for the International Operators Union Local #18 of Akron. Clyde had a great passion for his work and was known as being the best of the best at what he did.

When not operating his company, Clyde enjoyed being hard at work at home on his farm. He loved “pushing dirt”, driving his John Deere tractor, which his grandchildren nicknamed “Johnny”, and just simply being outside. While tending to his farm, he was often accompanied by his grandsons and his faithful dogs. Clyde was very active with his children and their 4-H projects and enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His greatest passion in life however was his grandchildren and he deeply cherished the moments spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gina (Smith) Wigert whom he married on June 25, 1977; his children, Angela (Eric) Davis of Paintsville, Kentucky, Tiffany (Jeremiah) Kail, Chelsie Wigert and Travis Wigert all of Stone Creek and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Kymber, Kylie and James Davis, Gavin and Garrett Kail and Keaton Garner.

In keeping with Clyde’s wishes cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. A memorial service celebrating Clyde’s life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Grace Community Church at Stone Creek with Pastor Paul Houdashelt officiating. Clyde’s family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Following the service, a luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall at the church.

Contributions may be made in Clyde’s memory to Tuscarawas County 4-H, 419 16th Street SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or to Grace Community Church, P.O. Box 97, Stone Creek, OH 43840.
