Clifton H. Blackwell, Sr., 69, died peacefully in his Dover home on Sunday morning, May 12, 2002. He was born in Dover to the late Rester Edwin and Celeste Irene Griffin Blackwell. Cliff served honorably with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1992, he retired from Union Camp after 42 years of service. Cliff enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, playing Solitaire and taking care of his property. But more than anything, Cliff loved to fish, particularly at Leesville Lake. He is survived by his wife, Jewel Bonds Blackwell, whom he married August 31, 1954; daughters, Ginger (Gary) Zimmerman of Barnhill, Pauline Blackwell and her companion Ed Espenscheid of New Philadelphia and Linda Harper of Dundee; sons, Clint (Cathy) Blackwell of Somerdale and Clifton Blackwell, Jr. of New Philadelphia; sisters, Loretta Studer of New Philadelphia, Lucille (Roger) McCoun of Newcomerstown, Maxine Bridges of Canyon, TX and Roberta Smith of Hattiesburg, MS; brothers, Robert (Millie) Blackwell of New Philadelphia, William (Bonnie) Blackwell of Dover, Jim Blackwell of New Philadelphia and Edwin Blackwell of Florida; ten grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanie Blackwell. In keeping with his wishes, services will be private, a cremation is through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Cremation Service. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
