Clelia M. Huff, age 93, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Bertly and Bessie King Garner, Clelia was born on June 4, 1915, at New Philadelphia.She was a 1933 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Clelia spent 26 years at the former W.T. Grant Company, working in the Hosiery Department, before going to work with the former T.G. & Y. store at Dover, and ultimately, the former Earl E. Smith Company. Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, especially weekly bowling with her daughter, a tradition that continued until her eighty-eighth birthday. Clelia learned to sew at a young age by making doll clothes, and would spend her entire life enjoying the craft.Reading mysteries was another of her favorite pastimes, although she was also one to appreciate many of the mystery television series over the years.On May 6, 1936, Clelia married Carl L. Huff, who preceded her in death on June 30, 1961. Survivors include her two sons, Richard (Barbara) Huff of Hudson, and Jim (Linda) Huff of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Karen (Jim) Jones of New Philadelphia; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Huff of North Canton.Three grandsons, Rob Huff of North Canton, Brett Huff of Stow, and Rob Mulholand of Coral Springs, Florida; three granddaughters, Carla Headland of Canton, Michelle Klann, of Wooster and Deborah Klann of New Philadelphia; and seven great-grandchildren complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Clelia is preceded in death by a son, Robert Huff; two sisters, Mary Kinser and Jane Murray as well as a brother; Gene Garner.Friends are invited to call Sunday afternoon from 2-3PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Ed Keck will lead a 3PM funeral service for Mrs. Huff Sunday afternoon. A reception will follow the service in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Cremation with inurnment, alongside her husband, will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at a later date.
