Claude Ousley

Claude “Jake” Ousley, 76 of Bolivar, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio.

A son of the late Homer and Grace (Stephens) Ousley, Claude was born July 21, 1940 in Jeffersonville, Kentucky.

Claude retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service where he received numerous medals and honors.  Following his retirement from the service, Claude served the Mar-Lite company for 19 years. During his retirement years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending as much time as possible with his family.

Claude is survived by his loving wife, Dixie Marie (Elliott) Ousley,  whom he married January 15, 1960; three sons,  Claude Dale (Lisa) Ousley of Bolivar, Clyde Darryl (Diana) Ousley of Canton, and Christopher Darren (Courtney) Ousley of New Philadelphia; two daughters, Janice (Allen) Christmas of New Philadelphia and Deborah (Ron) Christmas of Bolivar; a sister Faye Gibson of Indiana, a special family friend Patty Hatt of Bolivar; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 6 half-siblings as well as many nieces and nephews.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert Lee, Nathan and Alex Ray Ousley and a sister Emma Jean Bradley.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 5 -7 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.  A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 10 AMwith Pastor Brian Flood officiating.  A luncheon will be held in the funeral center’s hospitality room following the service.  Burial will follow at Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:30PM.
