Clarris M. Burton

CLARRIS M. BURTON, 84, of Somerdale, died Sunday, December 22, 2002 at 8:26 PM in Aultman Hospital, Canton, three days shy of her 85th birthday. Clarris was born December 25, 1917 at Dale, KY to the late Henry Clay and Orlena Keeton Holbrook. She married Henry Burton on January 10, 1935. He preceded her in death June 5, 1999. The couple enjoyed family vacations and traveling throughout the United States and Canada together. Clarris was a life-member of the Somerdale Ladies’ Aide as well as serving as a committee woman for the Republican Party. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Cox and her companion, Wes McLaughlin, of Dover; sons, Walter L. Burton, J. C. (Ellen M.) Burton and Jerry S. (Brenda) Burton, all of Zoarville; a sister, Ruie Tidwell, of Polk City, FL; grandchildren, Chris F. Cox and Shelly Cox; Marsha L. Ritenour; Jeffrey L. (Susan) Burton and Rodney A. (Lynn) Burton; great grandchildren, Nathan Ritenour, Jacob Henry Burton and Kristin Burton; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Clarris was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers and her daughter-in-law, Donna M. Burton, on May 13, 2001. Calling hours will be Thursday, December 26, 2002 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Dick L. Harvey officiating. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery. After the committal a reception will be given in the Fairfield Township Fire Dept. building at Somerdale. Contributions may be made to the Maranatha Community Church, P. O.
