Clark D. Todd, 94, of Medina, and a long-time resident of New Philadelphia, passed away August 16, 2024 at the Masonic Home in Medina following a period of declining health.
Born June 2, 1930 in Harrison County, he was the son of the late Charles E. Todd and Hilda (Moore) Todd Nichols.
Clark honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He continued his education following service at General Motors Institute and Kettering University.
On December 10, 1950, he married the love of his life, the late Helen Carruthers Todd. Together, they loved to dance Modern Western Square Dance and were members of the Star Promenaders. They also had a passion for traveling.
Professionally, he served 50 years with Ferris Chevrolet in New Philadelphia as their service manager, after brief employments with Weavers Chevrolet and Heubner Chevrolet in Carrollton.
Clark was an active member of numerous organizations throughout his lifetime including the B.P.O.E #510, the New Philadelphia VFW #1445, the Freeport Masonic Lodge, Cambridge Scottish Rite and the Freeport Eastern Star Chapter #319.
Clark’s faith was nurtured for numerous years at Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia where he served in a variety of capacities.
He is survived by his children, Mark D. Todd and Mary Lou (Michael) Lawver, both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Amanda Kwesi of Peoria, Arizona, Joshua D. (Samantha) Todd of Dover and Brian Lawver of New Philadelphia; his great-grandchildren, Luke, Melanie and Weston Todd, Imari and Jabari Kwesi, and Braxton and Addison Lawver; half-siblings, Connie (Herman) Bean of Piedmont, Ohio, Sally Todd of Worthington, John (Carol) Todd of Florida and Jim (Gladys) Todd of Hawaii; and sister-in-law, Shirley Carruthers Moreland. Numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to his wife and parents, Clark was preceded in passing by his step-father, Hugh Nichols; and brothers-in-law, Max Moreland and Paul Carruthers.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:45 pm. Pastor Jon Long will officiate a service celebrating Clark’s life in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW Post #1445 will render military honors.
