Clarence H. “Bush” Larkin, 95, of Dover, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at New Dawn Retirement Center where he has resided for the past three years.A son of the late Martin and Laura Belle (Girt) Larkin, Clarence was born January 15, 1910, in New Philadelphia, O.He was retired from the city of New Philadelphia as sewer superintendent, and in 1956 helped found Larkin Sewer Contractors with his brother, Warren M. Larkin; and his son, Thomas E. Larkin. He also worked as a New Philadelphia volunteer firefighter.Clarence was a WWII Army veteran having served in the 3rd Battallion, 22nd Infantry Regiment during the Rhineland, Ardennes, Normandy, Central Europe and Northern France campaigns. He also participated in the D-Day landing at Normandy on June 6, 1944.He was a member of Schoenbrunn Moravian Church, had been an assistant Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 90, belonged to the former New Philadelphia Moose, enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire, and was an avid Cleveland Indians baseball fan.Clarence is survived by his son, Thomas E. (Susan) Larkin, of New Philadelphia; sisters, Marjorie Larkin and Ellen Stucky, of Dover, and Olwen Wilson, of Chicago; granddaughters, Beth (Jerry) Weaver, of Dover, Barbara K. (Mark) Cline, of Gnadenhutten, Cynthia Faye (William) Britton, of Ft. Worth, TX, Donna June (Mike) Myers, of Strasburg, Mary Jo ( Chuck) Zedi, of New Philadelphia, and Brenda Joyce Murphy, of New Philadelphia; grandsons, Thomas D. Larkin, of New Philadelphia, Rick Denzer, of Chicago, Il., and Darrell G. (Michelle) Larkin, of Dover, 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the love of his life, Edith Faye Lantzer, whom he married on October 2, 1948; a granddaughter, Holly Ann Hursey; a step-daughter, Wilma Faye Denzer, a step-son, Elmer Lantzer; a sister, Zedith Truman; and brothers Emmett, Warren M., Adrian, Martin and Garnett Larkin.Visitation will be Sunday, April 24, 2005, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Rev. Sue Koenig on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be beside his wife at East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia with military honors provided by the New Philadelphia VFW.
