Clarence G. Hammel, 74, of Beach City, died Monday, November 5, 2012 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center at Canton following a brief illness while surrounded by his family.
A son of the late Clarence Ziegler and Pauline (Stratton) Hammel, Clarence was born March 10, 1938 at Canton, Ohio.
Clarence was formerly employed as a truck driver for F. Troop Trucking of Strasburg and was a member of the Shady Rest Army-Navy Garrison at Beach City. He was an avid NASCAR fan and also enjoyed camping.
He is survived by his two sons, Gayle (Shannon) Hammel of Mineral City and Daniel Hammel of Kimbolton, Ohio; four granddaughters, Aldawna Hammel and Kathryn (Eric) Diaz Valero both of Massillon and Michaela and Johnna Hammel both of Mineral City and many extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by a brother, John Hammel.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 10 to 12 p.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Clarence’s life will follow at 12 p.m. in the funeral center with Pastor Terry Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in German Cemetery at Mineral City. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held at the Mineral City Church of the Nazarene.
