Clarence A. Burrier, 84, of Newcomerstown and formerly of Oldtown Valley, died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Newcomerstown.A son of the late William E. and Florence (Kugler) Burrier, Clarence was born August 3, 1921 in Oldtown Valley, Ohio.Clarence, who was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Stonecreek, graduated from Stonecreek High School in 1940. He retired from Stonecreek Brick in 1986 and was also a farmer in Oldtown Valley.He was the founder as well as an advisor for the Happy Homesteaders 4-H Club. Clarence was also a Jefferson Township Trustee for 20 years and a member of the Stonecreek Board of Education.He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (John) Burrier, whom he married August 20, 1943; one daughter, Carla (Leroy) Huff of Port Washington; three sons, David (Linda) Burrier of Newcomerstown, Robert (Connie) Burrier of Tomah, Wisconsin and Gail (Julie) Burrier of Twinsburg, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Agnes (Burt) Varadi of Michigan.Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Floyd Burrier, Vernon Burrier and Eugene Burrier; and one sister, Ruth Emig.Visitation will be Sunday, October 9, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. Services will be conducted by Rev. Janet Matthews on Monday, October 10, 2005 at 10 a.m. in the Grace United Church of Christ in Stonecreek. Burial will follow in Stonecreek Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Grace United Church of Christ in following the committal service.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
