Clara L. Crawshaw

Clara L. Crawshaw, 93, formerly of New Philadelphia, died in her daughter’s Canton home Tuesday, April 30, 2002. Clara was born on her family’s farm in Clay Township, Tuscarawas county, on September 8, 1908 to the late Joseph and Jenny Zimmerman Clum. She attended Goosefoot School on Grange Hill and business school in New Philadelphia. On December 22, 1927 she married Theodore R. Crawshaw, who preceded her in death on July 25, 2001. Clara belonged to Fry’s Valley Moravian Church and was a member longer than any other congregant. She will be remembered as a loving and gifted familywoman. Clara is survived by her daughter, Jane Maurer of Canton; her son, James (Cora) Crawshaw of Trotwood; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna McGinnis, two brothers and two grandchildren. The funeral service will be Saturday, May 4, 2002, at 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Marie K. Couts, pastor of Fry’s Valley Moravian Church, officiating. Burial, alongside her husband, will follow at East Avenue Cemetery. Following the committal, a meal will be shared at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home.
