Christopher L. Richmond, age 58, passed away at home on February 4, 2025. He is survived by his loving, beautiful wife, Carolyn, and his amazing son, Caden.
Chris was born in Union Hospital at Dover on August 20, 1966, a son to Marjorie Richards Richmond of Dover, whom he adored, and Paul Richmond of New Philadelphia.
Chris, also known to some as “Duck”, has the most generous spirit and selflessly volunteered his time and considerable skills to anyone who needed it. His optimism and calming presence improved every room he entered. He was a loyal friend and always made time to support his circle. Chris wanted everyone to cherish their time together and, as always, “have a great weekend!”
If you picture Chris, you will inevitably imagine him with his signature sly smile. He was a good-natured jokester — always ready with a quick-witted comeback followed by his sparkly-eyed smirk. His style was unmatched, so you will also be imagining him impeccably dressed with his iconic coordinating Kanes shoes and flat cap.
As a lifelong resident of New Philadelphia, he was extremely dedicated to his community. He truly wanted to see everyone succeed, which was evident by his hard work with student athletes alongside his son, Caden. Caden was Chris’ greatest joy and he rightfully took great pride in his son, who has his father’s gentle, steady spirit.
In his earlier years, Chris enjoyed golfing. As he got older, he found great joy in being with his family, playing cards, cornhole, board games, and being a source of entertainment for those around him. He loved being funny and seeing others smile.
In addition to his mother and father, Chris is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, the former Carolyn Raber, whom he married on November 15, 1999; their beloved son, Caden; his siblings Desireé (Doug) Demian, Gary Richmond, Stephen (Sharon) Richmond, Anthony (Benita) Richmond, Natalie Richmond, Gabriel (Amy) Richmond; his father and mother-in-law Jonas and Mary Raber. Completing the family are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will greet guests on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover, where Pastor Rich VanArsdalen will lead a memorial service celebrating Chris’ life at 5:00 PM.
To honor his life, Chris would want you to always remember this, a past post from his Facebook page: Wake up with a smile, with a positive attitude, with a light that shines from your heart. Carry this energy with you throughout the day, you’ll feel better for it and so will everyone around you.
