Christine Ann McWilliams

Christine Ann (Lauer) McWilliams, 51, of New Philadelphia passed away Friday, September 5, 2014 in Community Hospice House following a courageous 12-year battle with cancer.

Born March 26, 1963 in Union Hospital at Dover, she was the daughter of Carolyn Angel (Cronebaugh) Lauer and the late David Wayne Lauer.

After graduating from New Philadelphia High School in 1981, she married her lifelong companion and friend, Dennis Lloyd McWilliams. They wed October 25, 1985 in Zion Lutheran Church in Stone Creek. Together, they were blessed with two children, Sarah Elizabeth and Nicholas Andrew.

Christine’s greatest joy was caring for her husband, children, and grandson. She was a fabulous baker and also loved to spend time looking for beautiful baskets, cookbooks, and other red items at garage sales and flea markets.

Her memberships included the Zion Lutheran Church, Jefferson Grange, and the Angel Valley Rosebuds and Ramblers 4-H club where she was also a past advisor.

She will be deeply missed by her family including her husband, Dennis; her mother, Carolyn Lauer; her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Taylor) McNutt of Sherrodsville; her son, Nicholas Andrew McWilliams of New Philadelphia; her grandson, Ryan Grant McNutt; her brother, Scott Allen (Janine) Lauer of New Philadelphia; her nephew, Isaac David (Lori) Lauer of Stone Creek; her step-daughter, Renee Maurer of Dover; her step-grandchildren, Braxton, Kiara, Perris, Kendra, and Kyra; and her mother-in-law, Mary Catherine McWilliams of New Philadelphia.

In addition to her father, David Lauer; Christine was preceded in death by her infant brother, David Ralph; her father-in-law, Lloyd McWilliams; and her maternal grandmother, Mildred Ann Cronebaugh.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Rev. William Haggis will officiate a service celebrating Christine’s life in Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday beginning at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Stone Creek Cemetery. Friends are invited back to the church where Christine’s church family will host a luncheon.
