Christena A. Ridgway

Christena A. Ridgway, 99, of Boca Raton, Florida and formerly of New Philadelphia, died late Wednesday evening, July 25, 2012 in Hospice by the Sea at Boca Raton, Florida following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Forest D. and Nona I. (Garner) Brown, Christena was born July 2, 1913 at Piedmont, Ohio.

Christena graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1932. On October 25, 1952, she married Samuel R. Ridgway and together the couple raised a daughter, Lori.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia. Christena was an employee at the former Dover Appliance Company and retired at the age of 80 from Maitland Junior High School where she managed the food service.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and C. David Wright of Boca Raton, Florida; a granddaughter, Carley Wright of Boca Raton, Florida and a grandson and his wife, Jared and Jennifer Wright of Buford, Georgia.

Christena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Delores Pritchard and a brother, Donald Brown.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Christena’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
