Cheryl Lynne Swinderman

Cheryl Lynne Swinderman, 68, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Oak Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Baltic following a lengthy illness.

A daughter of the late Lloyd and Thelma (McKee) Smith, Cheryl was born on December 28, 1947 at Dennison, Ohio.

Cheryl graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1967.  Three years later on October 2, 1971, she married the love of her life, Richard Lloyd Swinderman, in Grace United Methodist Church at Uhrichsville.  Together the couple raised three sons, Ryan, Kyle and Adam.

She worked as a teller at the former Reeves Bank and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia.  Most of all Cheryl cherished her family and took great pride in caring for them.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Richard Swinderman; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and Lori Swinderman of Baden, Pennsylvania and their children, Lena, Gavin and Hayley and foster son, Darrius; Kyle and Terra Swinderman of Mayfield Heights, Ohio and their children, Lyndsey, Lucas, Abygail and Patrick; and Adam and Ellie Swinderman of Wickliffe, Ohio and their daughter, Scarlett; two sisters, Elaine (Homer) Carmany of New Philadelphia and Marla (Ray) Kasunic of Winter Haven, Florida; a brother; Mark (Sue) Smith of Tuscarawas and her mother-in-law, Anna Swinderman of New Philadelphia.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack and Dave Smith; her father-in-law, Lloyd Swinderman and a brother-in-law, Thomas Swinderman.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Cheryl’s life will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Matt Slater officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.  A memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
