Charlotte I. Bennett Freetage, age 72, of Midvale died, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in her residence following a period of declining health.
Born on December 14, 1941, at Snow Hill West Virginia, Charlotte was a daughter of the late Alphus and Icie (Walton) Burns.
She attended New Philadelphia High School and on February 24, 1961, married Clarence H. Bennett. Together the couple raised four children and shared in 31 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 7, 1992.
Charlotte loved caring for her family and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also had a deep love for the Lord and appreciated the opportunities to attend church as her health allowed.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory Freetage, whom she married on August 22, 1995; three daughters, Angela (Rodney) Jackson of Uhrichsville, Sherry Golden of North Canton, Anita Bennett of Cleveland; a son, Michael (Elizabeth) Bennett; two sisters, Shirley Goodwin and Mary Hayes all of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Tifney (Kyle) Tharp, Michaela Bennett, Grant Bennett, and Summer Barnett and two great-grandchildren, Reed and Taylor Tharp.
Completing the family are two step-daughters, two step-granddaughters, a step-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Stull and three brothers, Woodrow, Kenny, and Estel Burns.
The family will greet guests on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Larry Fletcher will lead a service celebrating Charlotte’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
