Charlotte Louise Van Ness DeWalt, age 83, of Walnut Hills Nursing Center at Walnut Creek died Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Pomerene Hospital at Millersburg following a brief illness.
Born in Rowan County, Kentucky on May 9, 1934, Charlotte was a daughter of the late Charles L. Van Ness and Ova M. Ginter.
She was a graduate of Shelby High School at Shelby, Ohio and spent many years with the Bardull Funeral Home at Shelby where she helped in various areas of the operation including hair and cosmetic work.
In her younger years, Charlotte loved hosting dinner parties and having house guests at her home. She was also an avid voice for the Pro-Life movement and loved reading.
She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Jo Monroe of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her friends and caregivers Ervin D. and Sarah Yoder of Dundee.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Richard DeWalt, whom she married in September 2000 and shared in 17 years of marriage prior to his passing on Christmas Day 2017.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation care has been conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
