Charlotte A. Hill

Charlotte A. Hill, age 82, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late A. Guy and Addie M Collins Bucher, Charlotte was born in the family home at New Philadelphia on December 18, 1928. She was a 1947 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and continued her formal education at Kent State University, where she obtained an associates degree. For more than 30 years Charlotte was employed by the Department of Human Services at New Philadelphia and served at term as the New Philadelphia City Auditor. Charlotte was a member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia and an active member of the Tuscarawas Valley Kennel Club. She had a great passion for her pets, Stormie and Pixie. She was a longtime therapy dog trainer and had received the Red Cross Hometown Hero Award in 2004 for her work with the dogs. Additionally, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for more than 45 years, as well as a life member of PETA. Charlotte is survived by a daughter, Charl (John) Ervin of Tuscarawas; two step-children, William (Elaine) Hill and Millie Anderson all of Enon, Ohio; three grandchildren; John Ervin (companion, Stephanie Derr) of Newcomerstown, Jacqueline Vanderpool of New Philadelphia and Jo (Troy) Scherer of Dover; four great-grandchildren, Justin, Jason, Kylee, and Hannah; and a niece, Janet Howe of Lakeworth, Florida.In addition to her parents Charlotte was preceded in death by two brothers; Glenn and Richard Bucher; her first husband, Norbert White and second husband, Murl Hill. Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey will lead a private burial service in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
