Charles William Louk, 81, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, October 4, 2010, in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia.A son of the late George and Delcia (Baughman) Louk, Charles was born June 5, 1929 at Mingo, West Virginia.On October 3, 1945, Charles enlisted with the United States Navy and honorably served his country during World War II. At the time of his discharge on September 26, 1947, Charles was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal.Charles, who was Lutheran by faith, enjoyed playing softball and fishing. He also owned and operated Chuck Louk Auctioneers & Associates at Canton, Ohio, where he resided the majority of his life.He is survived by a son, Charles “Chuck” (fiancée, Linda Tucker) Louk II of Carrollton; a daughter, Cindi Gilquest of Texas; his long-time companion, Mary Davis of Strasburg and four grandchildren, Josh, Sarah, Jessica and James.Also surviving are five brothers, Richard (Barbara) of Worthington, Ohio, Donald (Betty) of Salem, Ohio, Robert (Sally) of Indianapolis, Russell (Jerri Mae) of Vermillion, Ohio and Gary (Peggy) of Spencer, Indiana and a sister, Nancy Barr of New Jersey as well as numerous nieces and nephewsCharles was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Virgil and Bryant and a daughter, Sherri.The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 7, 2010, from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
