Charles Vernon Elliott, 77, of New Philadelphia¸ passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in Aultman Hospital.
Born at Gallipolis, Ohio on September 16¸1935¸Charles was the son of the late LeRoy Elliott and Ora E. (Thompson) Elliott.
On October 9, 1954, Charles married the former Jeanne L. Mooney in Gallipolis, O. Together, they were blessed with two daughters whom brought much joy and love to their lives.
Professionally, Charles worked at Marlite in Dover, then as a general laborer in construction until his retirement. In addition to his family, working in his garden, hunting, and riding motorcycles were great joys of his.
Charles will be deeply missed by his wife Jeanne; his daughter, Lisa (Alan) Welch of New Philadelphia; his grandson, Chase L. Dummermuth of Orlando, Florida; his son-in-law, Jim Dummermuth and his wife, Sherry, of New Philadelphia; sisters, Pearl Leifhiet of Gallipolis and Joyce (Greg Mantor) Browning of New Albany; brothers, Emmett (Eleanor) Elliott of Gallipolis, Carroll “Red” Elliott of New Philadelphia and James (Sharon) Elliott of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal K. Dummermuth; his brother, LeRoy Elliott; and his sisters, Vivian Benson and Florence Clay.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Sunday, September 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. A service celebrating Charles’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Matt Roe and Bob Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
Following the committal service, friends and family are invited to Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be shared.
