Charles Marvin Heath

December 25, 1932 — January 29, 2012

Charles Marvin “Charlie” Heath, age 79, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully in Park Village Healthcare Center, Sunday, January 29, 2012, following a declining period of health.

Born in Bellaire, O. on December 25, 1932, Charlie was the son of the late Earl and Irene (Stonbaugh) Heath.

Charlie joined the United States Army when he was 16 years old and spent the next 9 years serving our country. He served during the Korean Conflict and was a heavy vehicle driver.

His professional career began at Custom Coaters where he was a truck driver. Charlie then worked for Swiss Valley Oil and ultimately completed his career with Express Packaging where he worked more than 20 years as a foreman.

While an employee of Custom Coaters, Charlie met his beloved wife and best friend, the former Lee Ellen Stoneman. On December 17, 1972, they were married and have celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage together.

Charlie and Lee Ellen are members of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia where they have maintained a very active membership. He also had a love of fishing, supporting the Cleveland Browns; but most important to him was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He greatly enjoyed every minute he spent with his family.

Charlie will be deeply missed by his life partner, his wife Lee Ellen Heath; his children, Damon (Colleen) Johnson and Jeff (Maggie) Johnson, both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Kyle and Laura Johnson, Travis (Danielle) Johnson, and Robert Kibler; his great-grandson and apple of his eye, Tye Charles Johnson; his brothers, Earl (Anna Mae) Heath and Dave (Marty) Heath; his sisters, Carol (Glen) Brownsword and Ethel Winzenreid; his brother-in-law, Tom (Beverly) Stoneman; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Abby.

Charlie’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his Park Village “family” for their unfailing love, support, friendship, and exemplary care.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jessie “Tom” Heath and Robert Heath; and his sister, Lucinda Barton.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. A service celebrating Charlie’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rich Van Arsdalenon officiating, Friday beginning at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow the service in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover where the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445 will render military honors. Friends and family are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be served.

Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
