Charles L. Ervin, 85, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, July 28, 2006 in Union Hospital at Dover.A son of the late William and Vera (DeVall) Ervin, Charles was born July 28, 1921 in Tiro, Ohio.He was a graduate of New Washington High School and a graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps having served during World War II.Charles was a certified public accountant and before his retirement, he was employed by H.G. Snyder C.P.A.’s Inc. of Columbus, Ohio where he was also a co-owner of the company. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia and was a life member of the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510. Charles was also a member of the National Certified Public Accountant Chapter and he was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.He is survived by two sons, Michael (Linda) Ervin and Patrick (Roxanne) Ervin both of New Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Tuttle, Shelly and Kelly Ervin and Steven and Chris Ervin all of New Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren and two sisters, Helen Callan of Huron, Ohio and Bea Kibler of Fountain Hills, Arizona.Charles was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joan (Kaple) Ervin whom he married June 10, 1943. Joan passed away on January 2, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine and Doris and one brother, John.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in New Washington, Ohio with Father Bob Dendinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
