Everett, Charles J. â?? obituaryCharles J. “Chuck” Everett, 79, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, July 8, 2011 in Aultman Hospital at Canton.A son of the late Lloyd C. and Lucy I. (Gowins) Everett, Chuck was born March 18, 1932 in his family’s residence at New Philadelphia.Chuck was a 1950 graduate of Midvale High School. Following High School Chuck joined the United States Marine Corp. and served in the Korean conflict. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart for his military service. Following his discharge he attended Mount Union College.He had been employed by Greer Steel and Davidson Mining prior to beginning his 49 plus year career with the Burgess Drilling Company of Dover. Chuck was a member of the Tuscarawas County Senior Center and faithfully attended the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia where he participated in many activities and Sunday School. Chuck was also an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.He is survived by his sisters, Lucy E. (Kenneth) Downing, Violet C. Burgess, Dolly E. (Edward) Canfield and Nancy A. Meechan all of New Philadelphia; brothers, Lloyd W. Everett, of Oskaloosa, IA and John K. (Judy) Everett, of Columbus, OH as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents Chuck was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret H. Rankin and a brother, Phil L. Everett. Visitation will be held Monday, July 11th from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and Tuesday, July 12th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia where Rev. Jason Caddy and Pastor Terry L. Canfield will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover where the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of New Philadelphia will provide military honors.
